Golden Inferno Hot-Honey Pepperoni Pizza

Pizza night, upgraded. This Golden Inferno pepperoni pizza takes everything people already love about hot-honey pizza—salty pepperoni, bubbling mozzarella, crisp crust and a sweet-spicy finish—and gives it a distinctly HOFFEE twist.

The drizzle is built with HOFFEE Golden Inferno Toffee Hot Sauce, honey and just enough vinegar to keep the finish bright. Golden’s buttery cayenne profile makes it especially useful here because the sauce naturally bridges the gap between rich cheese, savoury pepperoni and sweetness.

Golden Inferno brings buttery cayenne flavour to pizza, wings, burgers, tacos and eggs. Add it gradually so you can choose the heat level that suits your plate. If you want to compare its heat and flavour with the rest of the lineup, use the HOFFEE Heat & Flavor Guide. Why Golden Inferno works on pepperoni pizza

Pepperoni pizza already has fat, salt, smoke, tomato acidity and browned cheese. What it needs is contrast. Golden Inferno adds buttery sweetness and warming cayenne heat without overwhelming the pizza.

  • Buttery flavour: connects naturally with melted mozzarella and garlic-butter crust.
  • Sweet heat: balances salty pepperoni.
  • Caramelized depth: adds more complexity than plain honey.
  • Moderate heat: makes the pizza approachable enough for a group.

How to make Golden Inferno hot-honey pizza

How to make Golden Inferno hot honey pepperoni pizza

1. Heat the oven properly

Place a pizza stone, pizza steel or heavy sheet pan in the oven and preheat to 500°F / 260°C, or as hot as your oven safely allows. Give the cooking surface at least 30 minutes to become thoroughly hot.

A hot surface is what gives homemade pizza a crisp underside before the cheese and toppings have time to dry out.

2. Make the Golden Inferno hot honey

Add the honey to a small saucepan over low heat. Once it loosens, stir in Golden Inferno, apple cider vinegar and a pinch of salt.

Warm for 1–2 minutes, stirring, then remove from the heat. Do not boil it aggressively. The goal is a glossy, pourable finishing drizzle—not a reduction.

3. Mix the garlic butter

Stir the melted butter with garlic, oregano and salt. Set aside. This gets brushed onto the exposed crust immediately after baking.

4. Stretch the dough

Lightly flour your work surface. Stretch the pizza dough into roughly a 30–35 cm / 12–14 inch round. Avoid flattening the outer rim completely so the crust can puff in the oven.

Transfer to parchment, a floured pizza peel or an oiled pizza pan depending on your setup.

5. Build the pizza

Spread the tomato sauce over the dough, leaving about 2 cm around the edge. Add mozzarella evenly, followed by pepperoni.

Do not overload the centre. Too much sauce or cheese creates a wet pizza and makes the crust harder to crisp.

6. Bake until blistered

Bake for approximately 12–16 minutes, depending on your oven and cooking surface. The crust should be browned underneath, the rim should have dark blistered spots and the mozzarella should be bubbling.

7. Brush the garlic-butter crust

As soon as the pizza comes out of the oven, brush the exposed crust with the garlic butter. The hot crust absorbs the butter and garlic immediately.

8. Finish with Golden Inferno hot honey

Drizzle the warm Golden Inferno hot honey over the entire pizza. Finish with Parmesan, fresh basil and optional chilli flakes.

Slice and serve immediately.

The key is adding Golden Inferno after baking

You can put a little Golden Inferno under the cheese if you want more flavour in every bite, but the main hot-honey drizzle belongs on the pizza after it leaves the oven.

That keeps the sauce bright and prevents the sweet elements from scorching under extremely high pizza heat.

How much Golden Inferno should you use?

For one 12–14 inch pizza, 2 tablespoons of Golden Inferno blended with 2 tablespoons of honey gives you a very noticeable sweet-heat finish while keeping the pizza approachable.

For less sweetness, use a 2:1 ratio of Golden Inferno to honey. For more heat, drizzle Golden Inferno directly over individual slices after the hot honey goes on.

Make it a full pizza night

This pizza works particularly well with simple sides:

  • Caesar salad
  • Arugula with lemon and Parmesan
  • Garlic knots
  • Roasted broccolini
  • Marinated olives
  • Cold beer or sparkling water

For a group, put several HOFFEE bottles on the table and let people finish their own slices. Golden is an easy everyday option, while Ghostly or Szechuan can push the heat much further. The HOFFEE 5-Pack makes that side-by-side tasting easy.

Three variations to try

Golden Inferno Hawaiian pizza

Add pineapple and ham instead of pepperoni. Golden's buttery sweetness makes this one especially natural because the sauce reinforces the sweet-salty contrast people already love about Hawaiian pizza.

Golden Inferno sausage and onion pizza

Use cooked Italian sausage, thinly sliced red onion and mozzarella. Finish with Golden hot honey and fresh basil.

Golden Inferno white pizza

Skip the tomato sauce. Use mozzarella, ricotta, Parmesan and roasted garlic, then finish with Golden Inferno hot honey after baking. The sweet heat is especially noticeable against the creamy cheese base.

Can I use store-bought pizza dough?

Absolutely. This recipe is about the toppings and finish, not proving that you can ferment dough for three days. Fresh grocery-store or pizzeria dough works very well.

Let refrigerated dough sit at room temperature for about 45–60 minutes before stretching. Cold dough tends to snap back and is harder to shape.

Can I make this on a barbecue?

Yes. Use a pizza stone or steel rated for your barbecue, or grill the dough directly and finish over indirect heat. Keep the Golden Inferno hot honey off the pizza until it is fully cooked.

Frequently asked questions

Is Golden Inferno very spicy on pizza?

No. Golden is one of the more approachable HOFFEE sauces. Combined with honey, cheese and dough, the finished pizza has a warm sweet-heat finish rather than aggressive burn.

Can I drizzle Golden Inferno directly instead of making hot honey?

Yes. Golden already has a sweet profile, so straight Golden Inferno works well on pizza. The honey version simply pushes the pizza toward the currently popular hot-honey style.

Does hot honey go on before or after baking?

After baking is the better choice for this recipe. You preserve the sauce's flavour and avoid exposing the sweet glaze to prolonged high heat.

What other HOFFEE sauce works on pizza?

Ghostly is great when you want smoky, serious heat. Szechuan gives pizza a more peppery, savoury profile. But for an everyday pepperoni pizza, Golden's buttery sweet heat is the easiest fit. Compare the full sauce range in the HOFFEE Heat & Flavor Guide.

The pizza-night verdict

Golden Inferno earns its “everyday” reputation here. The buttery toffee notes reinforce the browned crust and melted cheese, the cayenne brings warmth and the hot-honey format creates that salty-sweet-spicy combination that makes pepperoni pizza difficult to stop eating.

Crispy pepperoni. Bubbling mozzarella. Garlic butter crust. Golden sweet heat.
